Position Title:

Development & Executive Support Intern

Background:  The Minnesota International Center (MIC) is a not-for-profit, nonpartisan, community organization. Our mission is to inspire community to understand global issues and cultures in an ever changing world. MIC is affiliated with the World Affairs Councils of America, the Foreign Policy Association, the National Council for International Visitors and NAFSA: the Association of International Educators.

The Major Gifts area of development works closely with MIC’s individual donors. This department establishes working relationships with new donors, maintains positive relations with current donors, tracks information in constituent records, researches prospects and plans for upcoming major gifts campaigns. 

The Executive Support area works closely with MIC’s President and provides support for this position, including calendar, email, speech development, correspondence and filing.

Responsibilities/Duties:

To assist the Major Gifts/Executive Support Manager in the following areas:

  • Research prospective individual donors
  • Create and send out regular correspondence to individual donors via email and regular mail
  • Maintain tracking for individual donor cultivation
  • Put together informational packets and supporting materials for possible donors
  • Input constituent data into Raiser’s Edge
  • Assist in preparation for Major Gifts meetings and events
  • Maintain files, calendars, goals forms
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in small organization
  • Strong oral communications skills, particularly on the phone
  • Ability to follow projects through to completion
  • Previous development work required
  • Detail-oriented
  • Commitment to providing timely support to President
  • Ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in internet research
  • Commitment for 8-12 months preferable
